Day 6: A Need
One of my all-time favorite Broadway plays is Wicked. The play is based heavily on the Wizard of Oz, which I adored growing up. However one of my favorite things about the play is the friendship that is portrayed between Elphaba and Galinda. The friendship is described in the song "I have been changed for good". First of all, if you've never heard the song, please go listen to it, the lyrics are brilliant. As I sit here at my computer listening to this song, I'm struck by the lyrics "Who can I say if I have been changed for the better, I do believe I have been changed for the better, because I knew I have been changed for good."
Friendship is such a basic need in our lives. I firmly believe that God has put all kinds of people in my life to guide me. In the last two or three years, I've been immensely blessed in that respect. I've gained friends from all walks of life, all ages and to some extent different beliefs. They challenge me, lift me up and encourage me. Not all of them are pictured above, however I am blessed by each of them. The advice and wisdom they give me is invaluable. Near or far I know I can count on them in my life. Knowing each of them have changed me for the better. I can only hope that my influence in their life has done the same.
